What was the first Xbox console game to support stereoscopic 3D?

The story behind the answer

Avatar: The Game was the first Xbox 360 console game to support stereoscopic 3D.

James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game, developed and published by Ubisoft, was released in 2009 for Xbox 360 and other platforms. Its stereoscopic 3D presentation was designed to work with compatible 3D televisions, allowing supported displays to show separate images for the viewer’s two eyes and create a depth effect.

The game was based on the world of James Cameron’s Avatar film, but it told a separate story set before the film’s main events. Players could choose sides in the conflict between the human Resources Development Administration and the Na’vi.

Later Xbox 360 games, including Crysis 2 and Batman: Arkham City, also supported stereoscopic 3D on compatible displays. That later support can lead to confusion, especially because 3D television features were never as widespread as ordinary high-definition output.
