Giorgio Armani’s co-founder Galeotti was named Sergio Galeotti.
Giorgio Armani and Sergio Galeotti established the Giorgio Armani fashion company in Milan in 1975. Armani provided the design vision, while Galeotti played a major role in the business and commercial development of the young label. Their partnership helped turn Armani’s earlier freelance design work into an independent fashion house.
The company became internationally known for its relaxed tailoring, unstructured jackets, and understated approach to luxury. Armani’s work for men and women helped change the silhouette of business clothing during the late twentieth century, while the company later expanded into accessories, fragrance, hospitality, and other categories.
Sergio Galeotti died in 1985 at age 40. After his death, Giorgio Armani continued to lead the company and became its principal public figure. Galeotti is therefore the correct co-founder, not another Italian designer or a later Armani executive.
