The biggest winning margin in the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend was Brighton & Hove Albion’s 4–0 victory over Aston Villa.
Brighton hosted Aston Villa on Sunday 23 August 2026 and produced the largest win of the opening round. The four-goal margin was bigger than the 3–0 victories recorded by Arsenal and Brentford.
The result also made Brighton the early leaders on goal difference after the first round. Aston Villa, by contrast, began the season with the heaviest defeat among the 20 clubs.
Brighton played at Falmer Stadium, also known as the American Express Stadium for sponsorship purposes. The club’s manager was Fabian Hürzeler, who had guided Brighton into another Premier League campaign after taking charge in 2024.
