End of the Night
Answer
End of the Night
The B-side of The Doors’ first single, “Break On Through (To the Other Side),” was “End of the Night.”
Elektra Records released the single in January 1967, with “Break On Through” on the A-side and “End of the Night” on the reverse. Both songs were recorded in 1966 and appeared on The Doors’ self-titled debut album later that year.
“Break On Through” was the band’s first single, but it initially performed modestly, reaching No. 126 in the United States. Despite that chart result, its driving rhythm and repeated vocal hook made it an enduring part of The Doors’ live and recorded legacy.
“End of the Night” has a darker, more atmospheric character, built around psychedelic textures and Robby Krieger’s guitar work. It was not one of the group’s most frequently performed concert songs, but its placement as the B-side made it an important early document of the band’s sound.
