What was the Ark’s length in the measurements given by Genesis?

The story behind the answer

Genesis gives Noah’s Ark a length of 300 cubits.

Genesis 6:15 lists the Ark’s dimensions as 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high. The length-to-width ratio is therefore 6:1, while the height is one-tenth of the length. These proportions describe a large, boxlike vessel built for stability and capacity rather than speed.

A cubit was an ancient unit commonly associated with the distance from an adult’s elbow to the tip of the middle finger. Its exact length varied by culture and period, so converting the Ark into modern metres or feet cannot produce one certain figure. Depending on the cubit used, 300 cubits are often estimated at roughly 135 to 157 metres.

Genesis does not identify the cubit standard. That uncertainty affects modern scale models, but not the biblical number itself: the stated length is 300 cubits.
