Noah’s name in the Quran’s account of the Flood and Ark is Nuh.
Nuh is the Arabic form of Noah, and he is regarded in Islam as a prophet and messenger. The Quran recounts his preaching, his people’s rejection, the construction of the Ark, and the Flood in several chapters rather than in one continuous narrative.
Among the Quranic passages about Nuh are Surah 11, Hud; Surah 23, al-Mu’minun; Surah 26, al-Shu’ara; and Surah 71, Nuh. Surah 11 describes the Ark being built under divine instruction and the believers boarding it.
Islamic and biblical retellings share major themes but differ in details. For example, the Quran includes the account of one of Nuh’s sons refusing to board the Ark, a detail not found in Genesis. Nuh is also one of Islam’s major prophets.
