Meta Quest 3 was released in October 2023 as the successor to Meta Quest 2.
Quest 3 is a standalone mixed-reality headset, meaning it can run virtual-reality experiences without being connected to a gaming computer. It uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 platform and includes improved displays, controllers, and color passthrough cameras.
A major selling point was mixed reality, which overlays digital objects onto a view of the physical surroundings. The headset launched with a starting price of $499.99 in the United States for the 128 GB model.
Quest 3 is different from Quest Pro, which Meta positioned as a higher-end headset for work and mixed-reality use. It is also separate from the earlier Oculus-branded Quest models.
