What was Christopher Nolan’s first feature film as director?
Answer
Following
Answer
Following
Christopher Nolan’s first feature film as director was Following.
Following is a 1998 British neo-noir crime thriller written, directed, photographed and edited by Nolan. It was made on a very small budget, with filming arranged around the schedules of friends and colleagues. Nolan shot the film in black and white, helping create its stark, urban atmosphere.
The story follows an unemployed young man who begins following strangers and becomes involved with a burglar named Cobb. This character name is sometimes confused with Dom Cobb from Inception, but the two films are unrelated. Following’s plot also established Nolan’s early interest in fractured chronology and unreliable perspectives.
After Following, Nolan directed Memento, which brought him international attention. Following remains the only feature in his filmography made before he moved into larger-scale studio productions.
