“Texas Hold ’Em” was Beyoncé’s first song to reach number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
Beyoncé released the song on February 11, 2024, alongside “16 Carriages,” as part of the rollout for her album Cowboy Carter. The track blends country instrumentation with pop, R&B, and dance influences, and its title refers to the Texas hold ’em form of poker.
“Texas Hold ’Em” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts. Its country-chart success made Beyoncé the first Black woman to top Hot Country Songs, a chart launched by Billboard in 1958.
The song’s achievement is separate from “Daddy Lessons,” a 2016 Lemonade track that drew country influence and was performed with the Chicks. “Texas Hold ’Em” was the later song that officially reached the top of Billboard’s country chart.
