What was Beyoncé’s first single from the album Renaissance?

“Break My Soul” was Beyoncé’s first single from Renaissance.

Beyoncé released “Break My Soul” on June 20, 2022, as the lead single from her seventh studio album, Renaissance. The song was written and produced by Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Terius “The-Dream” Nash, and other collaborators, including producers associated with its house and dance influences.

The track incorporates elements of Robin S’s “Show Me Love” and “Explode” by Big Freedia. Its lyrics and upbeat production helped frame Renaissance as a dance-oriented project centered on release, confidence, and movement. The single reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.

The title is sometimes confused with the album’s other major songs, especially “Cuff It,” which became a later hit from Renaissance. Renaissance was released on July 29, 2022, and was presented as the first act of a planned three-act project. Its accompanying visual project was not released at the same time as the album.
