What was Beyoncé’s film debut?
Answer
Austin Powers in Goldmember
Answer
Austin Powers in Goldmember
Beyoncé’s film debut was Austin Powers in Goldmember.
The 2002 comedy, directed by Jay Roach, starred Mike Myers as Austin Powers and featured Beyoncé as Foxxy Cleopatra. Her character is a parody of 1970s blaxploitation heroes and becomes an ally of Austin during the story.
Beyoncé also recorded “Work It Out” for the film’s soundtrack. The song served as an early showcase for her solo presence shortly before the release of Dangerously in Love in 2003.
Many viewers first associate Beyoncé with Dreamgirls, in which she played Deena Jones, but that musical drama came later, in 2006. Austin Powers in Goldmember therefore marks her feature-film debut, rather than her best-known acting role.
