Beyoncé voiced Nala in Disney’s 2019 remake of The Lion King.
The film is a photorealistic computer-animated reimagining of Disney’s 1994 animated feature. Nala is a lioness who is Simba’s childhood friend and later becomes his partner as he returns to reclaim the Pride Lands. Beyoncé’s voice performance was part of the film’s prominent international cast.
Donald Glover voiced Simba, James Earl Jones returned as Mufasa, and Chiwetel Ejiofor voiced Scar. Beyoncé also contributed the original song “Spirit” and curated the companion album The Lion King: The Gift.
Nala should not be confused with Sarabi, Simba’s mother, or Shenzi, one of the hyenas. Kiara is Nala and Simba’s daughter in the broader Lion King story, but she is not Beyoncé’s character in the 2019 film.
