What was Apollo 14’s command module called during its 1971 lunar mission?

The story behind the answer

Apollo 14’s command module was called Kitty Hawk during its 1971 lunar mission.

Kitty Hawk carried commander Alan Shepard and command-module pilot Stuart Roosa while lunar-module pilot Edgar Mitchell descended to the Moon in Antares. The spacecraft name honored Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, where the Wright brothers made their first powered flight in 1903.

Apollo 14 launched on January 31, 1971, and landed in the Fra Mauro region on February 5. Shepard and Mitchell conducted two surface excursions and collected lunar samples, while Roosa orbited above in Kitty Hawk.

Kitty Hawk is sometimes confused with Yankee Clipper, the Apollo 12 command module, or Odyssey, Apollo 13’s command module. Apollo spacecraft names were selected individually by each mission crew.
