What typeface is used in Supreme’s famous box logo?

The story behind the answer

Supreme’s famous box logo uses the typeface Futura Heavy Oblique.

The logo consists of white italic lettering inside a red rectangle. Its visual language was strongly influenced by the work of American artist Barbara Kruger, whose text-based art often used bold black, white, and red compositions.

The wordmark’s heavy italic appearance helped make the logo immediately recognizable on shirts, hoodies, skate decks, and accessories. Because the design is simple, counterfeit versions and unauthorized uses have also become common, making typography an important part of identifying the authentic mark.

Futura Heavy Oblique is not the same as Helvetica, Arial, or other generic bold sans-serif fonts. The slanted, geometric lettering is a specific typographic choice and is central to Supreme’s visual identity.
