What studio developed Halo: Campaign Evolved?

The story behind the answer

Halo Studios developed Halo: Campaign Evolved.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a remake of the single-player campaign from Halo: Combat Evolved. It is being developed by Halo Studios, the Microsoft-owned team formerly known as 343 Industries. The studio rebranded in October 2024 while announcing a shift toward developing future Halo projects with Unreal Engine 5.

The original Halo: Combat Evolved was developed by Bungie and released in 2001. That history creates the most likely confusion: Bungie made the original game, but Halo Studios is responsible for the new Campaign Evolved remake. The Coalition, another Xbox-owned studio, is associated primarily with the Gears franchise, while id Software is known for Doom and Quake.

Campaign Evolved is planned to include upgraded visuals, revised cinematics and audio, three new prequel missions, and expanded cooperative play. It is scheduled for release in 2026 on Windows, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
