Tesla, Inc. uses the stock ticker TSLA on the Nasdaq exchange.
Tesla began trading publicly on June 29, 2010, in an initial public offering priced at $17 per share. Its listing made Tesla the first American automobile company to go public since Ford Motor Company in 1956.
The four-letter symbol TSLA is derived from the company’s name and is used for Tesla’s common stock. It is not the same as TeslaQ, an informal symbol sometimes associated with delisted or bankrupt companies, nor is it related to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s TSM ticker.
Tesla’s public listing helped fund development of the Model S and expansion of its manufacturing operations. Investors may also encounter different exchange symbols for Tesla-related financial products, but TSLA is the company’s standard Nasdaq stock ticker.
