What stock ticker does Meta Platforms use on the Nasdaq?

The story behind the answer

Meta Platforms uses the stock ticker META on the Nasdaq.

The company changed its corporate name from Facebook, Inc. to Meta Platforms, Inc. in October 2021. Its stock ticker changed from FB to META at the start of trading on June 9, 2022.

The rebrand reflected Meta’s stated focus on building the metaverse, while Facebook remained the name of one of the company’s major social-networking products. The change therefore affected the parent company and market symbol, not the Facebook app’s name.

Investors sometimes refer to the business as Facebook because that was its former corporate identity. META is the current Nasdaq symbol for the publicly traded parent company.
