Beyoncé used the stage persona Sasha Fierce prominently during the I Am... World Tour era.
Sasha Fierce was introduced as an alter ego connected to Beyoncé’s 2008 double album I Am... Sasha Fierce. The album divided its two discs conceptually: “I Am...” emphasized more personal and vulnerable material, while “Sasha Fierce” represented a bolder, more performance-driven side.
Beyoncé described Sasha Fierce as a persona that emerged when she performed. The concept helped frame the contrast between her private self and her powerful stage identity, though she later said she no longer needed the alter ego because she had become more comfortable merging those sides of herself.
The album included major songs such as “If I Were a Boy,” “Halo,” and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” Sasha Fierce is therefore not Beyoncé’s legal name, a band name, or a separate artist; it was a deliberately created performance identity.
