“Beychella” is the commonly used stage name for Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella performance and its related documentary.
Beyoncé headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2018. The performance became widely known as “Beychella,” a blend of her name and Coachella, because of its scale, cultural references, marching-band arrangements, choreography, and historically Black college and university-inspired presentation.
She performed with a large ensemble that included a marching band, dancers, and guest appearances by Destiny’s Child, Jay-Z, and Solange. The set was later documented in Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé, released on Netflix in April 2019.
“Beychella” is an informal nickname rather than the official name of a separate festival. The official event was Coachella, held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
