What stage name did Beyoncé use for her performance persona on the album I Am... Sasha Fierce?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé used the stage name Sasha Fierce for her performance persona on I Am... Sasha Fierce.

The double album was released in November 2008. Its two discs were titled I Am... and Sasha Fierce, presenting a contrast between more personal songs and tracks designed around a bold, confident stage character. Beyoncé explained that Sasha Fierce represented a more uninhibited side of her performing personality.

The album produced major singles including “If I Were a Boy,” “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” “Halo,” and “Ego.” “Single Ladies” became especially associated with its choreography and black-and-white music video.

Sasha Fierce was a performance persona rather than a separate recording artist. Beyoncé later said she had retired the character as she became more comfortable merging the stage identity with her personal self. The album title therefore refers to the project’s conceptual two-sided structure.
