Sasha Fierce is the alter ego Beyoncé introduced during the I Am... World Tour era. She described Sasha as a more assertive performance persona that helped her separate stage confidence from her private self.
The name became especially associated with Beyoncé’s 2008 double album I Am... Sasha Fierce. The first disc, I Am..., emphasized more personal and emotionally direct songs, while the Sasha Fierce disc focused on energetic performance tracks such as “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and “Diva.”
Beyoncé later said in interviews that she no longer needed the alter ego because she had integrated the qualities Sasha represented into her own identity. The persona therefore became a useful period-specific concept rather than a permanent separate character.
The phrase is often shortened informally to “Sasha,” but the album and the established stage name use “Sasha Fierce.” It should not be confused with Beyoncé’s nicknames, including Queen Bey.
