Sasha Fierce was the stage alter ego Beyoncé used for the high-energy, performance-focused half of her 2008 double album I Am... Sasha Fierce.
Beyoncé described Sasha as a more confident and uninhibited persona that emerged when she performed. The album’s two-disc structure contrasted intimate songs on “I Am...” with bolder tracks on “Sasha Fierce,” including “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”
The persona helped frame the album’s central artistic contrast, but it was not a separate performer or a legal identity. Beyoncé later said she had retired Sasha Fierce after completing the era, explaining that she no longer needed the alter ego to access confidence onstage.
The name is sometimes confused with “Yoncé,” a nickname used in later songs and performances. Sasha Fierce specifically belongs to the 2008 album concept and its associated live era.
