What stage alter ego did Beyoncé introduce during the I Am... World Tour era?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé introduced the stage alter ego Sasha Fierce during the I Am... World Tour era.

The name became closely associated with her 2008 double album I Am... Sasha Fierce. The project divided its concept between reflective songs presented as Beyoncé’s personal side and more aggressive, performance-oriented songs associated with Sasha Fierce.

Beyoncé described Sasha Fierce as a character she used while performing, helping her separate her private personality from the intensity of the stage. Songs connected with the alter ego included “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and “Diva,” while the album’s more personal material included “If I Were a Boy” and “Halo.”

She later said that she no longer needed the alter ego because she had matured and could access that confidence without a separate character. “Yoncé” and “Queen Bey” are nicknames or branding terms, but they are not the same alter ego.
