Genesis’s stated dimensions for Noah’s Ark produce a length-to-width ratio of 6:1.
Genesis 6:15 gives the ark as 300 cubits long and 50 cubits wide. Dividing 300 by 50 gives 6, so the ratio is six units of length for every one unit of width. The calculation uses the same unit on both measurements, meaning the uncertain modern size of a cubit does not affect the ratio.
The same verse gives a height of 30 cubits, making the overall stated proportions 300:50:30. Reducing those figures gives 10:5:3. Genesis later mentions three decks, but it does not provide a detailed naval construction plan or explain the engineering basis for the proportions.
Modern discussions sometimes compare the ratio with broad, stable barge-like forms. Such comparisons are interpretations, not proof that the biblical vessel was built according to a surviving engineering tradition. The numerical answer follows directly from the Genesis dimensions.
