Shaun Pulfrey pitched the Tangle Teezer on Dragon's Den before building the brand.
Pulfrey appeared on the programme seeking investment for his specially shaped detangling hairbrush. The Dragons did not invest in the pitch, but Pulfrey continued developing and selling the product. Tangle Teezer later became an internationally recognised haircare brand, making the appearance a frequently cited example of a business that progressed without a Dragon's deal.
The product is sometimes confused with other detangling brushes, including Wet Brush or Denman designs. The key identifying feature is the Tangle Teezer's distinctive arrangement of flexible teeth, designed to pass through tangled hair with less pulling. Its later commercial success also illustrates that a television rejection does not determine whether a product can succeed.
