What number studio album is Renaissance in Beyoncé’s solo discography?

The story behind the answer

Renaissance is Beyoncé’s seventh studio album in her solo discography.

Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records released Renaissance on July 29, 2022. It is the first act of a planned three-part project and follows 2016’s Lemonade as her next traditional solo studio album.

The album is strongly influenced by house, disco, funk, and dance music. Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s eighth solo number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. Renaissance also earned the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album.

Counting can become confusing because Beyoncé has released live albums, soundtrack projects, collaborative records, and visual albums in addition to her standard solo studio albums. The commonly used discography count places Renaissance seventh, after Dangerously in Love, B’Day, I Am... Sasha Fierce, 4, Beyoncé, and Lemonade.
