“Beychella” became the widely used nickname for Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella performance. She headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 14 and April 21, 2018, after postponing her 2017 appearance because she was pregnant with twins.
The set incorporated marching-band and majorette traditions associated with historically Black colleges and universities. It included a large ensemble of dancers, musicians, and a brass-heavy stage design, while guest appearances came from JAY-Z, Solange, and former Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
The performance was later released as the concert film and live album Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé in 2019. “Beychella” is an informal media nickname rather than the official title of the festival or performance. Coachella’s official name is the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
