What new island was included in Palworld's first major expansion?

Sakurajima was the new island included in Palworld's first major expansion.

The Sakurajima update launched on June 27, 2024, adding a large new area with a Japanese-inspired visual style, cherry blossoms, shrines, wetlands, and other distinct environments. It also introduced new Pals, new subspecies, additional technology, and new challenges.

The update expanded more than the map. It raised the player and Pal level cap, added new faction and tower content, introduced an Oil Rig stronghold, and brought a player-versus-player arena to Palworld. These additions made Sakurajima a substantial content expansion rather than a small seasonal patch.

Sakurajima is part of the Palpagos Islands setting. It should not be confused with Feybreak Island, which arrived later in December 2024 as another major content update.
