Tsum Tsum is the name of Disney’s stackable plush toy line first released in Japan in 2013.
The toys have a compact, rounded shape designed so that several characters can be placed one on top of another. The name comes from the Japanese verb “tsumu,” meaning “to stack.” Disney initially developed the range for the Japanese market, where the small plushes quickly became collectible character merchandise.
The line expanded internationally and included Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters. Different sizes and materials appeared over time, including small plush toys and larger versions intended for display or cuddling.
Tsum Tsum should not be confused with Duffy, which is a separate Disney bear character, or with the Disney Tsum Tsum mobile game. The game uses the same rounded visual concept, but the merchandise line itself is the physical plush collection.
