Harry Potter plays Quidditch, the fictional magical sport created by J.K. Rowling. It is played by two teams of seven flying on broomsticks.
A Quidditch match uses four balls: one Quaffle, two Bludgers, and one Golden Snitch. Chasers try to put the Quaffle through one of three opposing hoops, while Beaters use bats to redirect Bludgers. Each team’s Seeker tries to catch the Golden Snitch, which traditionally ends the match and awards 150 points.
Harry plays Seeker for Gryffindor at Hogwarts. Quidditch is distinct from other wizarding games in the books, such as Gobstones and Exploding Snap. The sport’s rules and terminology became one of the most recognizable parts of Rowling’s fictional world and inspired real-world adaptations and fan competitions.
