The third Pixar film about Lightning McQueen is titled Cars 3.
Cars 3 was released in 2017 and continues Lightning McQueen’s story as a veteran racer facing a younger generation of high-tech competitors. The film focuses on his attempt to regain confidence and adapt to changing expectations in professional racing.
Brian Fee directed Cars 3, which was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Owen Wilson returned as the voice of Lightning McQueen, while Cristela Alonzo joined the main cast as Cruz Ramirez.
The title is simply Cars 3, not a subtitle. This distinguishes the feature from Cars 2, which moved the characters into an international spy plot. Cars 3 returns more strongly to the personal racing and mentorship themes established by the original 2006 film.
