In Pixar’s Cars, the sheriff who catches Lightning McQueen speeding is known simply as Sheriff.
Sheriff is the law-enforcement car of Radiator Springs. He pursues Lightning after the race car tears through town and is later involved in bringing him before Doc Hudson. The character’s straightforward title reflects the film’s small-town setting, where several residents are identified by roles or familiar names.
Sheriff is voiced by Michael Wallis in the English-language film. Wallis was also closely associated with Route 66 history and served as a consultant for Pixar’s research into the road and the communities along it.
Sheriff is sometimes confused with Sarge, the military-surplus jeep who runs a surplus store, or Doc Hudson, the town judge. They are separate characters with different functions in Radiator Springs.
