Renaissance is the first album in Beyoncé’s three-part project, released in 2022.
Beyoncé released Renaissance on July 29, 2022. It is her seventh studio album and the first installment of a project she described as a three-act work. The album draws heavily on dance music, house, disco, funk, and Black and queer club traditions.
The lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s first solo Billboard Hot 100 number-one single since “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” in 2008. Other tracks include “Cuff It,” “Alien Superstar,” and “Virgo’s Groove.” Renaissance debuted at number one in several countries and won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album.
Renaissance is sometimes confused with Beyoncé’s 2024 album Cowboy Carter, which is the second act of the broader project. The title is also different from The Gift, her 2019 album inspired by The Lion King.
