The title of the Eagles' 1972 debut studio album is Eagles. The self-titled record was released by Asylum Records on June 1, 1972, after being recorded in London with producer Glyn Johns.
The album introduced the band's early country-rock sound, built around the four-part harmonies of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. Its opening track, "Take It Easy," became the group's debut single and helped establish the Eagles immediately.
Eagles produced three Top 40 singles: "Take It Easy," "Witchy Woman," and "Peaceful Easy Feeling." The album reached No. 22 on the Billboard 200 and was eventually certified platinum in the United States.
A common mix-up is confusing the debut with Desperado, which followed in 1973. Desperado is the Eagles' second studio album and is especially associated with its Old West theme, while the band's first album is simply titled Eagles.
