Which country singer joined the Eagles in 2017 to share Glenn Frey’s lead vocals? Vince Gill joined the Eagles for that role.
After Glenn Frey died in January 2016, the Eagles re-formed in 2017 with Frey’s son, Deacon Frey, and country singer Vince Gill sharing lead vocals on songs Frey had originally sung. Gill also performed guitar and contributed his own country-rock style to the group’s live lineup.
The new formation was introduced publicly around the Classic West and Classic East concerts in 2017. Gill’s participation allowed the band to continue performing Frey-associated material while acknowledging the loss of its co-founder.
Gill was not an original Eagle. The founding lineup consisted of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. His later membership can therefore be confused with the band’s earlier personnel changes, such as Joe Walsh replacing Leadon in 1975.
