What is the title of Metallica's two-part documentary about making The Black Album and its following tour?
Answer
A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica
A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica is the two-part documentary about making The Black Album and its following tour.
The documentary follows the band and producer Bob Rock during the album's difficult creation. It shows the recording process, studio disagreements, mixing work, and the preparation of music videos including Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven, and Nothing Else Matters.
Its second part moves beyond the studio and documents the touring period. Featured performances and scenes include the Monsters of Rock concert in Moscow, the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, and the Guns N' Roses/Metallica Stadium Tour. The project therefore links the album's production with its huge public impact.
The documentary was released as a double VHS package in 1992 and later became available on a single DVD. It is often confused with Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, which documents the making of St. Anger more than a decade later.
