Beyoncé’s visual album released with the 2020 film Black Is King is titled Black Is King.
The project was written, directed, and executive produced by Beyoncé and serves as a companion to the 2019 soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift. It reimagines themes from The Lion King through a contemporary celebration of Black culture and artistic traditions.
Black Is King premiered on Disney+ in July 2020. Its visual chapters use elaborate costumes, choreography, locations, and collaborations with musicians from Africa and the wider diaspora.
It is often confused with Lemonade because both are major Beyoncé audiovisual projects. Lemonade is a 2016 album film, while Black Is King is the later project connected to The Lion King: The Gift.
