Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records released Renaissance on July 29, 2022. It was presented as the first act of a planned trilogy and followed 2016’s Lemonade as Beyoncé’s next solo studio album.

The album draws heavily from house, disco, dance-pop, funk, and R&B. Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s eighth solo number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.

Renaissance received nine Grammy nominations at the 65th ceremony and won four awards, including Best Dance/Electronic Music Album. The title is sometimes confused with the 2023 concert film Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé or with Cowboy Carter, the later album that became the trilogy’s second act.
