What is the title of Beyoncé’s first country-themed studio album, released in 2024?

Cowboy Carter is Beyoncé’s first country-themed studio album, released in 2024.

The album was released on March 29, 2024, as the second act of Beyoncé’s planned trilogy following Renaissance. It explores country music while also drawing from pop, rock, blues, folk, soul, and Americana. The title refers to Beyoncé’s surname through her marriage to Jay-Z and to the project’s western framing.

Its singles included “Texas Hold ’Em” and “16 Carriages.” “Texas Hold ’Em” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and made Beyoncé the first Black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

Cowboy Carter includes collaborations and reinterpretations connected to country history, including “Jolene,” a version of Dolly Parton’s song. The album is sometimes called simply Act II, but Cowboy Carter is its official title. Beyoncé described the project as a response to feeling unwelcome in country music after her 2016 Country Music Association Awards performance.
