“Crazy in Love” is Beyoncé’s duet with Jay-Z that became her first US Billboard Hot 100 number-one single.
Released in 2003 as the lead single from Beyoncé’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, the song combines a prominent brass sample with an energetic pop and R&B arrangement. Jay-Z contributes a rap verse, while Beyoncé delivers the main vocal performance.
The track was a major commercial and critical success. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 and won Grammy Awards for Best R&B Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 46th Grammy Awards in 2004.
“Crazy in Love” is sometimes confused with “Drunk in Love,” another Beyoncé and Jay-Z collaboration released years later. The two songs share the couple’s partnership, but “Crazy in Love” was Beyoncé’s breakthrough solo-era single and her first US number one.
