Cowboy Carter is Beyoncé’s 2024 album that won Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammys.
Released on March 29, 2024, Cowboy Carter is Beyoncé’s eighth studio album and the second act in a planned trilogy that began with Renaissance. Its title uses the name of the Carter family, Beyoncé’s married family name, while also framing the project around American musical history.
The album explores country, Americana, folk, blues, rock, gospel, and R&B. It includes “Texas Hold ’Em,” “16 Carriages,” and “Jolene,” as well as collaborations with artists including Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, and Dolly Parton in spoken and musical appearances.
At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2025, Cowboy Carter won Album of the Year and Best Country Album. Its Grammy recognition followed a major conversation about Beyoncé’s place in country music and the genre’s deep Black roots.
