Beyoncé’s 2022 studio album that begins a planned trilogy is Renaissance.
Renaissance was released on July 29, 2022, as Beyoncé’s seventh studio album. It was promoted as “Act I,” with later projects forming parts of a broader three-act series.
The album draws heavily on dance, disco, house, and Black and queer club-music traditions. Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s eighth number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 as a solo artist.
Renaissance debuted at number one in the United States and won the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album. The follow-up, Cowboy Carter, was released in 2024 as “Act II,” although its title differs from the first album’s one-word name.
