Beyoncé’s 2022 studio album that begins with “I’m That Girl” is Renaissance. It is her seventh solo studio album and the first act of a planned three-part project known as the Renaissance trilogy.
Renaissance was released on July 29, 2022, through Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records. Its sound draws heavily on dance, disco, house, and other club traditions, with extensive use of samples and interpolations from earlier recordings. The lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s eighth solo number-one on the Billboard Hot 100.
Renaissance is sometimes confused with Cowboy Carter, which was released in 2024 as the second act of the trilogy. The album is also separate from The Gift, Beyoncé’s 2019 album inspired by The Lion King, and Everything Is Love, her 2018 collaborative album with Jay-Z.
