Beyoncé’s 2022 studio album built around dance and club music is Renaissance.
Released on July 29, 2022, Renaissance was presented as the first act of a planned three-part project. Its sound draws on disco, house, dance-pop, funk, and other club traditions, with contributions from artists and producers connected to Black and LGBTQ+ dance-music history. The album’s lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s first solo number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 since “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”
Renaissance is sometimes confused with the 2023 concert film Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé or with the broader Renaissance World Tour. The album itself is a studio recording, while the tour and film document later performance work associated with it.
