Renaissance is the title of Beyoncé’s 2022 album that opens her planned trilogy.
Released on July 29, 2022, Renaissance is Beyoncé’s seventh studio album. It was preceded by “Break My Soul,” a dance-influenced single that became her eighth solo number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100. The album draws on house, disco, funk, dance, and Black queer club traditions.
Beyoncé presented Renaissance as “Act I” of a three-act project. Its credits include numerous writers, producers, and sampled artists, reflecting the album’s broad musical lineage. Songs such as “Alien Superstar,” “Cuff It,” and “Virgo’s Groove” helped define its club-oriented sound.
The album won Best Dance/Electronic Music Album at the 2023 Grammy Awards. It is not the same project as Cowboy Carter, which Beyoncé released in 2024 as a country-focused album and described as “Act II” of the trilogy.
