Beyoncé’s 2022 album that introduced her Renaissance era is Renaissance.
Columbia Records released Renaissance on July 29, 2022. It is Beyoncé’s seventh studio album and the first act of a planned three-part project. The album’s sound draws heavily on house, disco, funk, dance-pop, and Black dance-music traditions.
Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s first solo Billboard Hot 100 number-one song since “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” in 2008. The album also includes “Cuff It,” “Alien Superstar,” and “Virgo’s Groove.”
Renaissance debuted at number one in several countries and won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album. It is distinct from Cowboy Carter, the 2024 album that became the second act of the trilogy. The word “Renaissance” refers to a rebirth or revival and also signals the album’s celebratory dance-floor focus.
