Beyoncé’s 2022 album that begins the planned Renaissance project trilogy is titled Renaissance.
Renaissance was released on July 29, 2022, through Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records. It is Beyoncé’s seventh studio album and her first solo studio album since Lemonade in 2016. Beyoncé described the album as the first act of a three-part project.
The album draws heavily on dance music, house, disco, and Black and queer club traditions. Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s eighth number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 as a solo artist. Other songs include “Alien Superstar,” “Cuff It,” and “Virgo’s Groove.”
Renaissance debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and won the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album. The next project in the trilogy was Cowboy Carter, released in 2024. The Gift and Everything Is Love are separate projects, not acts in this trilogy.
