What is the title of Beyoncé’s 2019 live-action film debut as Nala?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé made her live-action film debut as Nala in The Lion King, released in 2019.

Directed by Jon Favreau, the film is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 animated classic. Beyoncé voiced the adult Nala, a lioness who becomes Simba’s ally and later queen.

The cast also included Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, and Alfre Woodard as Sarabi. Beyoncé recorded new music for the project, including “Spirit,” which appeared on the accompanying album The Lion King: The Gift.

The film is often called live-action because of its realistic visual style, although its animals and environments were created digitally. It should not be confused with Beyoncé’s earlier voice work in animated projects.
