What is the regulation height of the centre of a standard dartboard from the floor?

The story behind the answer

The regulation height of the centre of a standard dartboard is 5 feet 8 inches from the floor.

This measurement is taken from the floor to the centre of the bullseye, not to the top of the board. In metric measurements, it is approximately 1.73 metres. The height is used for standard steel-tip darts setups.

The throwing distance is measured separately from the front face of the board to the oche. In modern steel-tip rules, that distance is 7 feet 9¼ inches, or 2.37 metres.

Players and organizers must also check that the board is level and that the 20 segment is at the top. Confusing the bullseye height with the throwing distance is a common setup mistake.
