What is the official height of Dubai's Burj Khalifa?

The story behind the answer

Dubai’s Burj Khalifa has an official architectural height of 828 metres.

The skyscraper opened in 2010 in Downtown Dubai and remains the world’s tallest building. It was developed by Emaar Properties and designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, with Adrian Smith serving as the chief architect. Its form draws inspiration from the Hymenocallis flower, a plant found in the region.

The building was originally known during construction as Burj Dubai. It was renamed Burj Khalifa at the opening ceremony in honour of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler of Abu Dhabi and president of the United Arab Emirates at that time. The 828-metre figure refers to architectural height, while measurements to the roof and highest occupied floor are lower.
